After over a decade, there are fresh calls for Toradora! to be renewed for season 2 after the anime was re-released on Netflix to a positive reception.
As anime fans, we have learnt to never say never when it comes to renewals or revivals of shows. Although it gets quite difficult when it has been over 10 years since a series concluded.
However, there are fresh calls for Toradora! to be renewed for season 2 after Netflix re-released the classic series to a fabulous reception from fans, both old and new.

Toradora season 2: Renewal status
- At the time of writing, Toradora! has not been renewed for a second season and is unlikely to ever return.
Jul 27, 2007 Toradora has been published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment since March 1, 2011, and in Polish by Studio JG since September 4, 2013. It has also been published in Spanish by Editorial Kamite since January 9, 2016. Is a Japanese manga series written by Yuyuko Takemiya and illustrated by Zekkyo, based on the light novel series of the same name. It was serialized in MediaWorks’ shonen manga magazine Dengeki Comic Gao!, but since May 2008 it is serialized in ASCII Media Works’ manga magazine Dengeki Daioh.
Unfortunately, it is a mixture of time, source material and production that gives us this depressing outlook on the future of Toradora! The first season originally premiered back in October 2008, meaning if either the production team or another network wanted to pick up the show for a second instalment, it would have happened by now.
Then there is the source material. Toradora! is adapted from the light novel series and season 1 of the anime covered everything in the 10 published volumes. There is always a chance that Yuyuko Takemiya could continue writing volumes but again, the novels concluded more than a decade ago.

However, there is always the chance that Toradora! could have a dramatic revival thanks to the recent release of the series on Netflix. It’s not unheard of for series to be renewed for another season after being away for this many years and let’s be honest if anyone could do it, it’s Netflix.

Toradora season 2: Release date
- Although unlikely, if Toradora! was renewed by Netflix for a second season then we could expect a winter-2021 release date.
This prediction is based on the fact that a whole new original story would have to be created and written, new animations would have to be redone and then new voice actors would, most likely, have to be found.

Plus, if Netflix did pick up the show for another instalment, I doubt that they would prioritise its production over other original shows. The platform appears to be investing more and more resources into the anime genre, but there is enough demand as there is for original shows.

It seems to me that this comment comes more from anime rather than novels side. In anime Louise is very easy to hate as she indeed is a dumb and bossy girl, but in the novels she is much deeper and very devoted person. In fact she is much more devoted than Taiga as she is willing to give everything for her friends be it her noble title or life. Louise grows from the brat to a soul aristocrat (noble not in title, but in her inner feelings). She is not that easy to hate in the novels, though she can still be annoying at times, but again when you stuck with someone as dumb and perverted as Saito it is unavoidable. As she is in love with him, while he, though supposed to be in love with her, goes around kissing other girls as if it was nothing, thats why we see so many ugly sides of Louise. If it were Ryuuji instead of Saito we would be seeing different, much more like-able Louise I think. Same goes with taiga if she were so unlucky to be with someone as horrible as Saito instead of Ryuuji.
Anyways, bottom line is that Louise and Taiga are not that far of from each other in a sense of their development. In fact Louise gets more development than Taiga (in the novels), so I would disagree that Taiga would hate a person like Louise. Well maybe a Louise which is from the start, before development kicks in, but not later one.
As for Toradora manga - I like it more than anime as it is much closer to novels, besides Taiga and Ryuuji have much better chemistry here. Though I would personally like if they would tune down the comedy a little since I so rarely see their faces drawn in a serious manner that I start forgetting how do they look at all.
